Industrial Green Chemistry Workshop (IGCW-2009) – exploring prevention of pollution as profit center
The chemical industry, today, is of the size more than 3 trillion dollars world-wide, with more than eighty thousand chemicals in commerce today and impacting every aspect of human life to a non-negotiable extent.
New realities for Chemical Industries based on triple bottom line of Economics, Environment and Society have emerged as a new benchmark for its sustainable existence. Beyond measures chemical industries have a vital challenge in addressing the E-factor by exploring prevention of pollution as profit center.
Industrial Green Chemistry Workshop (IGCW-2009)
Industrial Green Chemistry Workshop (IGCW-2009) to be held in Mumbai from 4th to 6th December, 2009, is an initiative to address Industrial needs for creating a momentum in implementing Green Chemistry & Engineering technologies at industrial scale and allow altering realities on the ground.
This is the first Industrial event where over 300-400 stakeholders of Chemical Industries will come together to explore the possibilities of industrializing
Green Chemistry & Green Engineering technologies to their products, services and/or streams. Over 250 Senior Management delegates and Chief Technical Officers will be participating from all fine and specialty chemicals manufacturing companies including drugs and pharma, agrochemicals, dyes and pigments industry sectors.
The event is organized by Newreka Green Synth Technologies Pvt. Ltd., India and Green Chemistry Network Center-GCNC (Indian Chapter of American Chemical Society – Green Chemistry Institute, USA). Co organizers are Chemical Industry Digest – Blockdale Publication, Mumbai, India.
This workshop is designed to take green chemistry from the cauldrons of the laboratory to the corridors of industry. It will involve from concepts to execution. It will look at revisiting chemistries and see how at source changes are being incorporated for greening the processes. Topics to be covered will include:
- Catalysis
- Alternative reaction media
- Novel process engineering
- Process intensification
- Micro-reactions, etc
Other issues like regulatory mechanisms, R&D requirements, venture capital and financial funding will also be highlighted. Awards will be felicitated with the objective of recognizing significant work in the field of Green Chemistry.
IGCW-2009 is principally designed on a 9-Eye (I) Approach; each session during the three days will focus on specific theme as follow:
Day one, 4th December 09, is for over 300 Senior Management, Directors, CEOs, Consultants, Entrepreneurs, Strategic Advisors, etc. to recognize and explore the ecological & economical footprint of Industrial Green Chemistry through:-
1. Ignition
2. Inspiration
3. Initiation
Day two, 5th December 09, is for Technical directors, R&D managers, Chief Scientists, CTOs, CXOs, etc, to identify the key Industrial challenges, and view various paradigms emerging in the domain of Industrial Green Chemistry, and providing significant input for inventing and innovating its application:-
4. Identification
5. Invention
6. Innovation
Day three, 6th December 09, is to encompass specific requirements of industries for implementing Industrial Green Chemistry and thus elucidate Ecological & Economical impact concerning the Process, Production, Project, Operation managers, vice-presidents etc.:-
7. Implementation
8. Industrialisation
9. Impact
India emerging as one of the key Chemical Industrial hubs, with large international operations, IGCW-2009 is a timely focused event for enhancing business possibilities in India, look for strategic partners in Indian Markets, and explore manufacturing collaborations in the Industrial Green Chemistry domain.
