Applications of microbe-plant-chemistry Approach to address Bio energy & Bio Remediation needs


Under Prof. R. K. Sharma has obtained his Ph.D. from University of Delhi. He worked on Metal-Bimolecular interactions on JSPS Post Doctoral Fellowship at University of Tokyo and Kumamoto University.

He has teaching experience of more than 20 years at Department of Chemistry. He has published more than 100 research papers in international journals and supervised the research work of 22 Ph.D. and M.Phil. students. Currently 1 Post Doctoral Fellow, 5 Ph.D. and  M.Phil. students are working in his group.

His major areas of research are: Green Chemistry, development of Green Analytical Methods, development of metal selective functionalized silica gel for their applications as scavengers, sensors and catalysts, Chemical Speciation and Molecular Modeling Studies for Designing of novel metal-chelating inhibitors of transcription factor NF-kB-DNA binding, and Clean Oxidation Process.

He had received several awards including Research Grant Award by Royal Society of Chemistry London, Japan Society for the Promotion of Science (JSPS) Post Doctoral Award, Indo-German Award, and UGC National Research Scientist award.

Recently, Dr. Sharma was awarded 4 research projects from Dept. of Science & Technology, Council of Scientific & Industrial Research, Dept. of Biotechnology and Ministry of Textiles (Govt. of India) worth more than 14 million rupees on Development of Green Process for extraction of trace/toxic metal ions using Chelating Resins, Greening of Handicraft Industry, Designing Green Chemistry Experiments, etc.

Dr. Sharma has played instrumental role in promoting & popularizing Green Chemistry within the Academic Circle in India by organizing various workshops & symposiums. He has recently written a monograph of Green Chemistry Experiments.
