Prof. Ahmad joined University of Malaysia Perlis (UniMAP) in May 2009 as Professor in the Institute of Nano Electronic Engineering.
Prof. Ahmad has earlier served Hamdard University, New Delhi, as Vice Chancellor from 2005 to 2008. Prior to that he served the Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR) for more than three and half decades and completed the term of Director, Central Electronics Engineering Research Institute (CEERI), Pilani, in October 2005.
His current projects involve establishing establishing a ‘Nano Herbal Medicines Center of Excellence’ at the University of Malaysia Perlis & an ambitious program in the domain of nanomaterial synthesis, which involves development of Fluidized Bed Atomic Layer Deposition Technology (FBALD) to batch produce nanoparticles, nanotubes, nanofibers and other nanostructured organic and inorganic species with precisely controlled surface functionalizations.
Dr. Ahmad has published his R&D results in International and National Journals in form of more than 60 research papers and has been granted more than a dozen patents. He is a recipient of K.L. Gold Medal from Allahabad University for standing First in M.Sc. (Tech) Examinations and 19th R.L. Wadhwa Gold Medal of IETE for his contributions in the field of research and developments in Electronics. He has received a number of fellowships from several prestigious organizations including German Academic Exchange Program (Germany), Alexander von Humboldt Foundation (Germany), UNESCO-UNDP (Paris), National Science Foundation (NSF, USA), etc.
