Concepción Jiménez-González is Director and Head of Engagement, Planning, Analysis and Reporting at GlaxoSmithKline, where she is responsible for EHS and Sustainability stakeholder engagement, reporting, and data systems worldwide. Previously, she was Director of Operational Sustainability, where she was responsible for the development and deployment of strategy and programs to integrate Sustainability into operations and product development. Before GSK, she worked as an environmental engineer for GeoEnvironmental, as a program coordinator, researcher and project engineer at ITESM in Mexico, and visiting researcher at Pfizer and SmithKline Beecham.
She currently serves in the Governing Board of the American Chemical Society’s Green Chemistry Institute (ACS GCI) and co-chairs the ACS GCI Pharmaceutical Roundtable. Conchita was also member of the US EPA’s Board of Scientific Counselors, Technology for Sustainability Sub-Committee; and served in the National Board of Directors of the Society of Hispanic Professional Engineers as National Vice-President.
She has been an active contributor in the fields of Green Chemistry and Engineering, Life Cycle Assessment, Sustainability, and the integration of EHS and chemical engineering to design more efficient, greener, safer processes. She routinely presents in scientific and business venues, peer-reviews scientific articles and publishes in recognized technical and industrial publications, including the recent book ‘Green Chemistry and Engineering: A Practical Design Approach”, co-authored with David J.C. Constable.
She holds a Ph.D. in Chemical Engineering from North Carolina State University; Raleigh NC; an M.S. in Environmental Engineering from ITESM; Monterrey, México and a B.S. in Chemical and Industrial Engineering at the Chihuahua Institute of Technology, México. Following the Spanish tradition, she is also known as Conchita.
