Laurent Gilbert, Ph.D. is the Director for International Development of Advanced Research at L’Oréal.

Mr. Gilbert holds a Doctorate in Physical Sciences from the Ecole Normale Supérieure, Saint-Cloud and a Ph.D in Organic Chemistry from the University of Paris-Sud.

After his thesis in Organic Chemistry, Laurent Gilbert joined Rhône Poulenc where he worked in various fields, from the synthesis of key intermediates for new actives, to process development, and business development before moving to the United States, where he ran Rhodia’s US for three years.

In 2002, Dr. Gilbert joined L’Oréal as Director of the International Raw Materials Department. He assumed global responsibility for the development of all new ingredients coming either from external collaborations or those developed internally, as well as responsibility for the Material Sciences laboratories. Recently he took the responsibility for the international development of Advanced Research.
