Wesley Heaton

Dr Wesley Heaton completed his PhD in 2004 under the guidance of Professor William Kerr at the University of Strathclyde, Glasgow. He then undertook a medicinal chemistry post-doctorial position with Sterix-Ipsen and the University of Bath. In 2007, he moved to GlaxoSmithKline, Dartford to take up a position in Process Chemistry where he oversaw the manufacture and technology transfer of key GSK products. In 2010, he transferred to Singapore to take up a position in a newly formed Sustainable Manufacture team to focus on the delivery the Sustainable Factory of the Future programme. During this period he has led and been involved in numerous projects including, solvent and product recovery, 2nd Generation process development and application of new technologies to waste and treatment optimisation. More recently, he has developed a process for performing carbon footprint assessments of manufacturing routes and has applied this to the GSK product portfolio.
